This is a copy of the information that went out to all Red Cross Regions in May 2007 from their London Headquarters (Emily Oliver) and has been repeated recently. You can refer to it when talking with the Regions , Please ensure that you adhere to the terms advised in the letter from the National Coaching Coordinator
1.Book the "Save a Life" course only and get sign off on terms from the National Coaching Coordinator, Mr Peter Harris before finalising the booking.
As discussed last week, here is the message that we are sending out to all our branches.
"As mentioned in the May missive, the British Red Cross is delighted that the English Bowls Coaching Scheme has approached us for first aid training their Coaches. Areas should expect to be contacted about this by the coaches directly. The course that the coaches need is Save a Life. They might also request Emergency Life Support. We had previously suggested a set price, but it has since been acknowledged that prices will vary between Areas and the coaches are aware of this. Some courses have already very successfully been held in the South West and we hope that Areas will welcome the opportunity to further this partnership locally."
Best wishes, Emily
RED CROSS INFORMATION FOR ALL COACHES
Bowlers go red!
Great news! We have teamed up with the world’s leading first aid training provider, the Red Cross, to organise training for Level Three Coaches
You will all be aware, via your County Coaches, that the new accreditation for Level Three coaching requires all sports to have a first aid certification process agreed with an external body. This certificate needs renewal every three years
The principle is that the higher graded coaches are more likely to be managing groups of pupils.
The aim is for you to gain sufficient knowledge to assist a casualty until emergency help arrives.
The British Red Cross will run “Save a Life” courses which last 2 hours.
These courses meet the requirements.
As the course has a minimum of twelve attendees please assist your County Coach by endeavouring to give this the highest priority when they set up these course for Level Three.
If you are booked on a course by your County Coach and don’t attend that place still has to be paid for. That is why you will have to pay the costs yourself when next booking the course.
FOR COUNTY COACHES The Helpline Number to Book your Course is 08701709222 option 3
