Thinking about taking up the sport ?

Bowls is a sociable game that can be played by a wide range of ages and physical abilities.

The EBCS has a very exciting and vibrant  develpment programme based upon the wide ranging Club structure.for individuals of all ages, dispositions and abilities.

There is also a youth development programme for  young people from aged eight through their teens, with under 18 and under 25 competitions and County Representative sides.

There are Blind & Partially Sighted , Deaf, Amputee, Wheelchair, Bowlers all who enjoy the sport to the full. Thery are very few sports which combine all the aspects of  competitive and social opportunity that a full family from children to grandparents can enjoy together. Bowls does this.

You will choose the level you wish to play be it social bowls, Club Frienly games, Club Teams, individual Tournament play, County Competitions, etc. The choice is always the same - YOURS.

How do you get started?

to find the details of an Indoor or Outdoor Bowling Club  nearest to your home and how to contact them .

They will  welcome you and arrange for you to try their Beginners or "taster" sessions. Most Clubs have shoes and bowls available to introduce you to  the sport before you make up your mind to purchase your own. It really is as simple as that. You will be surprised at the warm welcome you will receive by all of your potential new club colleagues.The only thing you have to do is make that contact and turn up at the appointed time.

Development

Once you have decided to "have a go" at bowls, it is highly recommended that you have basic coaching from a trained caoch  of the English Bowls Coaching Scheme. They will take you through an approved syllabus that will assist you learn all of the basics. They will also help you find the most effective way for you to bowl. We are all different and the right way to do it is what works most effectively for you   

Reading Material

The E.B.C.S. have  a  booklet designed specifically to give you all of the information and answer all of the questions you are likely to now have running through your head. WE STRONGLY ADVISE that you do not rush out and buy all sorts of equipment and shoes etc.until you are certain it's right for you.
